About this Qualification
The purpose of Functional Skills English Entry Level 3 qualifications are to demonstrate the ability at an appropriate level to read, write, speak, listen and communicate in English, and to apply this knowledge and these skills in familiar situations.
Who is it suitable for?
Functional Skills qualifications in English at Entry Level are ideal for learners wishing to develop practical, transferable skills in English in order to work confidently, effectively and independently in life. It is suitable for a wide range of individuals and is fundamental to the successful completion of various wider qualifications and frameworks, such as Foundation Learning.
Qualification Structure
These qualifications are assessed via 3 controlled assessments which cover:
• Reading – In this unit, learners will learn how to listen and respond in conversations and discussions. learners will learn how to read and understand purpose and meaning in straightforward texts as well as simple strategies to support understanding.
• Writing – In this unit, learners will learn to write legibly, using correct basic punctuation, spelling and grammar. Learners will learn to plan their writing, write in short paragraphs and to check their writing for errors
• Speaking, Listening and Communicating – In this unit, learners will learn how to engage in discussion and make relevant points, learners will learn how to listen and respond in conversations and discussions and earners will learn how to speak to communicate in different situations.
